About Us

The Energy Shop opened for business in 1979 as a solar water heater contractor and in 2009 began installing photovoltaic solar energy systems. We are locally owned and operated in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. We also distribute other energy saving products such as windows, doors and skylights.

 

PV Basics

​

Solar panels generate DC electricity that is fed through electrical conductors to your system's inverter, which inverts the DC electricity into household ready AC electricity. With a grid-tied solar energy system, any extra electricity that is not consumed by your household, is fed back into the grid and is accounted for with a dual flow meter. Your retail electric provider will then buy back this surplus electricity at a predetermined rate.

 

Solar Tax Credits

• Through 12/31/2032: The solar tax credit is 30 percent of the installed cost of the system on  residential and commercial systems.
